Q: What do you call a podium with more than three steps?
A: I have no clue. But we really need one this week as there have been several amazing stories in the news and loads going on with our clients, all Podium-worthy.
Sadly, there is only room for three entries #OnthePodium and we must be ruthless. Don’t blame me: I didn’t make the rules*.
This week’s painstakingly-selected and hugely privileged entries are:
Third place: Ammarah Mahmood
A girl after my own heart. Amarrah Mahmood, aged nine, of West Yorkshire, was given a home work assignment to find as many apostrophe errors as possible at her local market. She attracted national news after finding, basically, tonnes of them.
As the anally-retentive type to whom punctuation errors are truly horrifying, this story cheered me right up. The errors are worrying, but unsurprising: that there are still nine-year-olds out there who can spot them is fantastic. Well done, Amarrah, you’ve made the Podium.
Second place: Our new chalk wall
A few hours’ labour and a couple of tins of chalkboard paint were all it took: we now have our very own gigantic in-office blackboard wall.
Mirroring our lovely home page, the wall has made a vast improvement to the Podium office. As we are a mature bunch, absolutely nothing rude or inappropriate has been drawn on there**.
First place: Halloween
As a cynical type, I probably shouldn’t enjoy Halloween: it’s overly-commercial, unhealthy and potentially dangerous. Yet, I can’t help but enjoy it. October is a month with very few redeeming features, especially as the realisation dawns that, if you work in an office, you’re probably not going to see actual daylight again for about five months. Halloween is a bit of fun that helps take the edge off an otherwise fairly bleak time of year.
So, we at Podium have set our cynicism to one side and helped some of our clients to get in on the act, with brilliant results, even if we say so ourselves.
Northern Bootcamp took to social media to show off its Podium-created branded pumpkin .
And, finally, Newcastle Clinic let us get to work on a spooky MRI-themed video, to illustrate, with tongue firmly in cheek, the difference between a narrow traditional scanner, and the open-sided scanner that Newcastle Clinic has.
You can see the full video here. Enjoy!
#OffthePodium
This week’s important lesson about Internet privacy was brought to you by Newcastle woman Julie McKenzie, who set up a Facebook group for her hen party, only to realise the group wasn’t set to ‘private’, with the result that 20,000 people said they were coming.
She cancelled the party. Poor Julie.
Have a great weekend, everyone, and don’t forget: Podium is an amazing content-driven SEO and digital marketing firm. We guarantee working with us will be the highlight of your month. Feel free to get in touch.
