It’s a question we hear a lot in the Podium Office – how long does SEO take?

The answer is one that we find most difficult to explain – we can’t tell you! And any SEO company that promises you results within a month would best be avoided.

SEO is made up of many different factors that include:-

  • How much information is on your site
  • How relevant the information is on your site
  • How much competition there is
  • How well the site has been setup both on the page content and off the page code setup
  • How many social networks you are active on
  • The list goes on…

What we can tell you is that, unlike the advice in Field of Dreams, “if you build it, he will come” – will not work with your website. Probably for the best – the least thing anyone needs is a load of dead baseball players in their office…

But to give you some timescales, we normally start seeing results within 6 months. There are some instances when this can be shortened for example when recovering from a badly launched site, but in general, you are looking at 3-6 months.

That said, once your website is built, the more that you put into a SEO campaign, the more you will get out of it. This will most likely be a combination of both on and offline marketing which will increase brand exposure and awareness (factors just as, if not more important) in SEO as technical setup.

We carry out SEO work for many different clients in a wide range of sectors from construction and engineering to healthcare and legal and we have had some pretty impressive results both in the short (3 months+) and long term (6 months+). Our campaigns consist of technical website setup but also integrated marketing consisting of e-marketing, PR, social media and advertising.

Look out for our series of blog posts that will be covering examples of our work and specific activity we have done to achieve results.
