Podium has demonstrated the power of PR when it comes to boosting SEO results with some outstanding national and regional media coverage for a client, leading to a huge spike in web traffic.

We produced a one-off media relations piece for our technical SEO client, Agents Property Auction, about a property that was going under the hammer with a starting price of just £1.

The ‘fixer-upper’ property is in Middlesbrough, so we worked with the Evening Gazette on a piece before the auction, and then on a follow-up piece that went live once the auction had finished. Following extensive coverage on the Evening Gazette website – with the follow-up piece here – the article was also picked up by the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mirror. Outstanding coverage, by any measure.

At the auction itself, someone spotted the property’s potential, and paid a shade over £19k for the terraced house – but far more valuable was the interest the articles generated, and the traffic it brought to APA’s website.

Over the two days, website traffic spiked by 800% compared to average traffic:

At Podium, we always take a holistic approach wherever possible: a strategic approach to SEO, and content marketing is essential to achieve the best results. As we’ve explained on this blog before, good website content is arguably more important than technical ‘hidden’ SEO work now (though websites still need to be set up correctly and maintained regularly).

The best campaigns will deliver a mix across the key disciplines, and the results will follow, which is why media relations remains as important as ever to a PR and marketing campaign. The domain authority that media outlets carry is vast – which is why it can be invaluable to have them link to your client’s website.

Please feel free to give us a call to discuss ways in which we can boost your web traffic through PR, content and technical SEO.
